The Museum’s Annual General Meeting heard a special tribute to Museum founder and tireless volunteer, Ellie Durbidge, who passed way earlier this year.
Museum President; Geoff Moore, announced to the meeting that the Archive Room—where most of the Museum’s collection is housed, will be named the Ellie Durbidge Archive Room, in honour of her work over decades, accumulating, provenancing and preserving documents, objects and photographs to form the basis for the Museum’s collection.
The AGM also awarded Life Membership to two passionate volunteers who have given many years of service to the Museum. Barbara Smith and Margaret Nash both stood down from their positions after many years as Vice President and Secretary and in Margaret’s case— Treasurer. They both maintain their membership on the Management Committee and Barbara will continue to work on the displays.
The President’s report was a summary of the activities of the Museum over the past year—and makes us all realise how busy this place is! It is worth a read—you can find the Report below.
